Although there are no hard statistics on this, the states with the most figure skaters (and some of the best) are California, the New England states, Texas, Minnesota, and Michigan. Although there are great skaters from across the United States, these areas seem to produce more high quality figure skaters than the other states, perhaps due to their cooler climates (New England, Michigan, Minnesota) or their large size (Texas, California).

That's an easy answer; California, specifically the Los Angeles area. Its pretty much where the X-games were born. Contrary to all the hype, the truth is life in L.A. is ridiculously boring, and some of the stereotypes are correct; most of the people there are a bit slow upstairs from too much sun. Intense heat is very bad for the brain; generally only black people, semites, south east asians, central Americans and southern Mexicans, basically only the peoples of the equator have their full brain function in extreme heat. Everyone else slows down a bit.

Also, you can't say equatorial people are dumber either; Algebra was invented in India, and the guy who invented was a Tamil scholar. You ever hear of what a sweltering, humid place the Tamil region is? Its worse than Florida. Not just Algebra, but Calculus too. Leibnitz did not invent it; he worked from the simplified version of Algebra invented by the Arabs.

Here's the deal; the people of India knew about Calc, but, their calculation methods were slow, ineficient and cumbersume, that is, until an Arab streamlined algebra and made it easier. Leibnitz worked from there, and developed a simpler, more efficient version of Calculus. India invented Calculus first, but they never got beyond just raw numbers they never got too much into theory because their methods were so ineficient. Leibnitz was able to take it further because the methods he used made calculations easier.
