I think you are talking about interval exercises. Probably the most famous one is Tabatha, which is an exercise where you run for 20 seconds as fast as you can and then take a 10 second brake where you walk slowly. Then you repeat this for at least four minutes. It is an incredibly exhausting exercise and it is so intense that five minutes of Tabatha is known to burn same amount of calories as a 40 minute jog!
