In singles there are only two people playing head to head.

In doubles, four people are playing on teams of two.

In singles, there is no rule for the direction of a served ball.

In doubles, you must serve the ball diagonally to the opponent.

The same court is used for both, but:

  • During singles the side tramlines are out at all times.
  • During doubles the rear tramlines are out on the serve only.

the only major difference is that in singles, the alleys are counted as out. in doubles, the alleys are part of the court. also, you obviously only have 2 people in singles, but 4 in doubles
