The higher the tension the more power, the lower the tension the more control of the ball you have, therefore manufactures normally string it in the middle of your tension range (tension range can be found on your racket)

Normally they use all polyester or a hybrid with polyester and something else normally a synthetic gut, natural gut, or multifilement

You want a thin, stiff unshaped poly on the crosses. On the mains either natural gut, or a thin, slightly less stiff poly.
