Most professional Table Tennis players rely on 5 main income sources:

# 1: Contracts to play professionally in leagues like Germany's Budesliga and Korea's Super League.

# 2: Endorsement deals with table tennis equipment manufacturers and other businesses using their name to promote their business.

# 3: Prize money through winning or making the final rounds of tournaments. (Some players are also payed appearance money for turning up at some tournaments).

# 4: Sponsorship from businesses or their national table tennis association to allow them to train and/or to travel to major tournaments.

# 5: Exhibition matches, coaching clinics and other events a player may be paid to attend.

Outside the top 200 players in the world expenses will almost certainly strip any income a player makes. Professionals in this standard are usually coaches, equipment sellers and exhibition players.

A male player ranked in the top 100-200 players in the world may make US$15,000 to US$50,000 a year...although after expenses this income won't look so attractive.

A player ranked in the top 50-100 players in the world may make US$25,000 to US$75,000 a year.

A player ranked in the top 50 players in the world may be making in excess of US$50,000 to US$100,000 a year.

A player ranked in the top 10-20 players in the world should be making well in excess of US$100,000 a year.
