There's no real rule. There is a traditional standard that a hole from 260-475 yards should be a par 4. Less would be a 3, more would be a 5.
None of this is too traditional because the whole concept of par is relatively new.

∙ 14y agoThere is no set minimum length for any hole in Golf. You will find however that a par 5 is usually more than 400 yards and rarely over around 650 yards. On some courses a par 4 may be longer than a par 5 on another course.
