It's where no more than three strokes are taken from the tee box to the cup. A par 3 hole can be of varying distances, usually not more than 165 yards, and not much shorter than 80 yards. There can still be sand traps, water hazards and other obstacles to circumvent between the tee and the pin.

A par three is a hole in Golf which has been given a par of 3, this means it is expected that you hit the green in regulation, which in the case of a par 3 is 1 shot, and you then take two putts to finish out the hole. They usually range from about 100 yards to as much as 250 yards. The longer par threes such as 240 or so you would find on courses which professional golfers play, from the very back tees.

If Beano plays it, it is 250 yards 45 degrees to the left of the hole in play and then a further 324 yards back to the pin.,

There are so many golf courses around the world, some have short par 3's and some on the pro tours have very long par 3's. The average length would probably between 150 and 200 yards.

From the farthest golf tees, par-3s go up to 250 yards.

par-4s are 251 to 470 yards.

par-5s are 571 and up.
