A split season is one in which all results, standings and averages are reset at some point during the season, typically in the middle. Basically, it's a single season treated as two completely distinct seasons.

Some leagues that bowl split seasons have a final roll-off between the champions of each half to crown an overall league champion (assuming two different teams won each half).
