Tennis directors' earnings vary widely across the board and are based heavily on geographical location and the individual facility. The tennis industry is hesitant to publish figures on the topic out of concern that club managers will base salaries around their findings so credible data is hard to come by. Most good directors are paid a base salary and then a commision. Typically, a director at a large country club will earn between $20k and $60k in base salary depending on experience. The emphesis is placed on the commision which usually ranges between 60% and 90% of revenue. At a busy 8 court facility a good director could make between $100K and $150k per year. Sometimes large tennis resorts pull in retired professional players or very experienced and business savy tennis pros who potentially earn between $250k and $500k per year. If I had to guess the national average for tennis directors though I would put it at about $90k per year.

It depends what you mean by 'director'. Keep in mind that most of what you see on television is also filmed, and tv actually has more oppotunities for directors. And don't forget about local telelvsion where you can earn your way to director with or without a degree. But to be a major film director the best way is to earn a degree.
