Depends on how they're mounted. Usually it's one bracket on the seat tube, one under the bottom bracket and one on the right seatstay. The seatstay is usually a wraparound clamp. Loosen the screw, pry it open, and off it comes. The one at the bottom of the bottom bracket shell is usually screwed in both the shell and the chain guard. The one at the seat tube might be welded to the frame, but screwed to the chain case.

How do you clean mountain bike?

A clean bike chain is essential for a smooth and efficient ride. Here are the steps to clean your bike chain properly: Remove: If your chain has a master link, you can easily detach it from the bike. If not, you can use a chain tool to break the chain at any link. Degrease: Use a degreaser spray or a solvent to soak the chain and dissolve the dirt and grease. You can use a brush or a rag to scrub the chain gently. Rinse: Use water to rinse off the degreaser and the dirt from the chain. Make sure the chain is completely clean and dry before reattaching it to the bike. Lubricate: Apply a thin layer of lubricant to each link of the chain. Wipe off any excess lubricant with a rag. Lubricating the chain will prevent rust and reduce friction. By following these steps, you can keep your bike chain in good condition and enjoy a better riding experience. How do you take off the rear tire of a 2002 Yamaha 85 Dirt bike?

Take crescent wrench and remove nut on back tire. Take washer and spacer off, place all three of these on the side of the bike where you removed them from (easier later). Remover bolt (may have to whack it once). Take spacer and bolt and place on the left side of bike (you know why). Push wheel and tire forward a little. Take chain off. Brake assembly may come off track but that is ok. Pull tire back and work it out of brake pads and past chain.

How do you change a chain on a 2002 YZF 600R?

there should be a master link with a clip. with a screw driver try to take the clip off and pop off the master link, try to have bike in neutral with rear tire off the ground. it is really hard to get the clip off the link sometimes and you might poke a few holes in your hand trying. My chains are always riveted on for racing and I always use a grinder to cut my chains off. So if you can not get the clip off the master link use a grinder. there should be a master link with a clip. with a screw driver try to take the clip off and pop off the master link, try to have bike in neutral with rear tire off the ground. it is really hard to get the clip off the link sometimes and you might poke a few holes in your hand trying. How do you get a chain off a bike using screw drivers and wrenches?

Getting the chain completely of requires either that the chain is fitted with a master link, or that you have a chain breaker tool. Of course it's possible to remove the chain by breaking it, but then you won't be able to get it back on w/o shortening the chain. If you're only talking about getting the chain off it's usually enough simply to loosen the rear wheel and slide it forward a bit to relax the chain and then if can be lifted off the cogs.

How do you remove a 1985 suzuki gs550 es chain?

The chain is secured using 2 different methods on pretty much any bike(with a chain). Choice 1 is with a master link using a clip. This will be the only link that looks a bit different than the others. Usually facing the outside of the bike although it is possible to have it facing inwards. If you have a master link with clip you will need to use a pair of pliers or a flathead screwdriver to force the clip off then once removed you can remove the link plate behind the clip. Choice 2 is on many street bikes and this is a pressed on plate master link. Basically it uses the link pins like a rivet. Once the master link is slid through the master link plate is then slid on and the links pins are "peened" to secure the link and plate. To install or remove this style you'll need a chain press tool. These can be bought from a company like Motion Pro. Might be easier and cheaper to take it to a bike shop.

Are bike chains fixable?

If it's just snapped off - sure. I recommend a chain breaker tool to remove the broken link and then a so-called master link or quicklink to put it back together. To buy the correct quicklink you need to know the width of the old chain. Easiest is to bring it to the store. Do note that depending on where the chain snapped, and how long it was to begin with, losing a link might have made the chain too short. In that case you'll have to replace it instead.
