A 3 wood has 15 degrees of loft, and as it has a longer shaft you would probably have to go for a 14 degree hybrid as a replacement. But a 15 or 16 degree one would be easier to hit and easier to control, so probably a better choice.
A 3 wood has about 15 degrees of loft, a 3 hybrid has about 21 degrees of loft. A hybrid is a blend of a wood and an iron. The 3 wood would have a longer shaft than the 3 hybrid.
to replace a 3 iron or 4 iron
A 3 iron is normally about 21 degrees. A 20 degree hybrid will act like a 2 iron, yes a 3 iron normally is 21 degrees, obviously the hybrid is 1 degree stronger, but it is also slightly longer which will also increase distance.
In general it equals a 5 iron.
A rescue club, also known as a hybrid, has the degree of an iron with the head of a wood.
ANSWER: Driver (1 wood) 3 wood 4 wood 5 wood 7 wood 9 wood 1 hybrid 2 hybrid 3 hybrid 4 hybrid 5 hybrid 2 iron 3 iron 4 iron 5 iron 6 iron 7 iron 8 iron 9 iron 10 iron Pitching wedge Gap Wedge Sand Wedge Lob Wedge Chipper Putter
Not ideally. A 9 wood would replace a 5 iron, but could be used to replace a 6 iron if you so wanted.
The utility club, or rescue, or Hybrid is there to replace your long irons. That's why you see them marked as 3h - 4h or 5h that is to designate the iron it's replacing. The hybrid is the same length as your iron or just slightly longer. but it should be the same degree of loft. Hit it as you would your long irons, they are more forgiving, easier to hit, and better out of rough. Fairway woods have bigger heads and generally quite low lofts from 13 to about 23 or so. They also have longer shafts.
Depending how good you are and what swing speed you have you want probably hit a 5 iron hybrid 170.
4 iron
According to several places a club with a 19 degree loft could be anything from a 4 wood to a 3 iron. So basically it might be a 4 or 5 wood as well as a 3 iron especially if its a 3 iron hybrid.
