well it depends on the type of event you want to do. if you are doing sprints then i would recommend using sprinting spikes which are super light weight and have only a very thin heel because you don't need to use your heel. but if you are doing longer running events like the 800, 1600, etc., i would use long distance spikes which are the same as sprinting spikes but with a thicker heel because you would run heel- toe

There are a few good track shoes. It's important that you are buying the right shoe for what you will be doing to protect your feet. Some of them are Nike, Asics, New Balance, etc.

if you are running on a track then you should get spikes because most other people will have them and will give them an advantage if you don't own a pair.

Some of the best kind of running shoes that I know of is Nike, Addidas, Reebok, Fila, Timberland, Fubu, Airmax and there are many different other types of running shoes.

I don't know any specific running shoes on the market that i specifically like. But, Nike runing shoes are really good. I have always trusted them. I like Nike.
