i would have to say trek would have to be one of the top bike brands due to the fact there one of the only brands to give a life time warranty and they offer a range of bike from the serious road/mountain/downhill cyclist to the causal commuter and are comfortable to ride and where ever you get one from a dealer will do a fit to make the as comfortable for u as they can so that's why i recommend trek bikes just
That's an impossible and pointless question, as the answer would depend on your size, preferences, intended usage, experience and allowed cost, neither of which you're telling us. If you have to leave your bike unattended in a high-crime area, get the cheapest bike you can stand to be seen with to minimize the loss and pain if it gets stolen. If you "know" you're gonna keep it "for ever and ever", get the lightest, nicest bike you can afford.
There are too many good mountain bikes to mention.

If you want a mountain bike for trials, I would suggest any bike under 25lbs with non-curved tube frame, under 14 inch frame size.
http://www.houstonbiketrails.com is a good website to find mountain bike trails and bike paths in the South Houston and surrounding areas.
There are a few good mountain bikes tires that would suit a 18 speed bike. I would go to a bike store and ask.there's different tires for what type of riding you doing but everyone have their own way they like their bikes from handle bars to tires. There's no best part.
