∙ 13y agoThe Western grip generates maximum topspin and power. Because of the angle of your tennis racquet when you use the Western Forehand grip, you should make contact with the ball a bit earlier than you would with the eastern forehand grip.
The Double-Handed Backhand gripThe basic Two-Handed Backhand grip, is obtained by holding the racquet in a regular Continental grip, then placing the left hand above holding it in a left-handed Semi-Western Forehand grip. Holding the racquet using two hands for the backhand is very common, but, there are many variations in the precise positioning of the two hands.Wiki User
∙ 14y agoI am not aware of 4 types of serve. I use 3 in my game...flat, slice, and kick. All 3 are generated by using a continental grip and the action of the serve is dependent on where you toss your ball and how you contact the ball with your racket.
Generally speaking, a flat serve is just that. Toss your ball accordingly and when the ball is struck, the racket is more or less perpendicular to the ball. To execute a slice servce the ball is tossed farther away from the body and the racket carves around the outside of the ball imparting side spin. To execute a kick serve, the ball is tossed slightly behind you. Arch your back a little more and brush up the back side of the ball imparting topspin. The topspin kicks off of the court creating a high percentage, high bouncing servce.
