His main weakness was his forehand. He was also not very comfortable from the back of the court, preferring to attack the net on almost any occasion. Edberg's game also suffered from a modest serve with a high kick, which was designed to allow him to move to the net (rather than win a point outright) - later however, against players with very strong returns of serve (e.g. Agassi) this serve was sometimes a liability.
