For Junior high children (grades 7,8,9) they will often use the 5 metre or 7 metre boards for Senior High school males they will use the 9,11, or 13 metre boards.

For long jump a 2 metre board is the most used but in some competitions they use a 1 metre board

The long jump boards are the white lines that line the run way of the pit. These lines are certain lengths away from the edge of the pit. For outdoor the distances from the board to the pit are 4' 8' & 12' in indoor the distances away from the board are 5' & 10'
