A Driver
Woods 3 and 5
Irons 3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Wedges Sand and Pitching
and a putter.
And either, gap wedge, lob wedge or hybrid.
Any combination of these clubs not exceeding 14 clubs.
Well, lets start with the putter. The putter is the one that looks completely smaller (usually) club, and you use it on the putting green (obviously...). Moving up, most modern sets don't have the 3 and 4 iron, frankly because it's like hitting a block of wood. Irons are usually on an angle and are named accordingly to length. The lower the number, the longer the shaft. Then there is the pitching wedge, and sand wedge used according to their names. Then in most modern sets, there are hybrids. This is a mix of an iron, and a driver/wood. Then the woods are just smaller and are used for distances, then the driver is often the largest club with the longest shaft.
There is no set configuration of golf clubs in a set. The rules of golf allow you to carry 14 clubs, so most golf carry a variety of woods, irons, wedges and a putter. Many golfers now also carry one or more hybrid clubs instead of longer irons.
A typical configuration might be:
Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Wood
3 iron - PW
Sand Wedge, Lob Wedge
Putter
Some players might drop the 5 wood and add a gap wedge (between a PW and SW)
Some advanced players might have a 2 iron instead of the 5 wood
Other players might drop the 3 iron and add a 3 hybrid
You could try Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 3- pitching wedge, sand wedge and lob wedge. Although you could have a hybrid or a gap wedge as well. Remember you are only allowed 14 clubs.
