1992
Betty Okino was a notable American gymnast who was a professional from years 1988 to 1992. The balance beam was her best event in which performed her famous "Okino" move (a triple pirouette) in a few competitions, in others she would do a double pirouette which is still difficult to do. Unlike Dawes, she wasn't the best tumbler but she was highly skilled in dancing which made her floor exercise routines a treat to watch. She also had a uneven bars dismount named after her as well ( clear hip underswing with a half twist to a layout salto). Unfortunately, an injury plagued her and she had to retire in 1992.
Betty Okino was born on June 4, 1975, in Kampala, Uganda.
