In the USA races can range from a 1/4 mile to 500mile Standardbreds race 1 mile, Quarter Horses for 1/4 Mile, Thoroughbreds are usually in the 5/8 to 1.5 mile range. Endurance races are usually 25, 50, 100 or 500 mile lengths with the majority of the horses being Arabian and part-bred Arabs.
