There are three sets of dots on the approach:

  • First set located about 15 feet from the foul line
  • Second set is 12 feet away
  • Third set is approximately 3 inches away.

Some centers do not use targeting dots at the further levels.

On a USBC regulation lane it's Sixty feet (60') +/- 1/2" from the foul line to the center of pin spot.

The foul line is 3/8" to 1" wide and the approach is 15' minimum.
