Run 8 laps at a little slower than your mile pace.
I'm a senior in high school and I run track and cross country. My events are the 1600, 800, and 3200. Usually they are in that order, so by the time I get to my two-mile I have already run one mile as fast as I can and a half mile at an extremely fast pace. What you need to do the days before is carb load, drink lots of water, and the day of eat carbs and fruit. Try to steer away from dairy products the days before the race. During the race you want to get into you're mile pace as quickly as possible, once you're at that pace after about 1/4 - 1/2 of the run lighten up on the speed alittle and get comfy because the middle .5/.75-1.5/1.75 are the most painful and this is where most runners lose their ability to put in the kick at the last 400 or 200m's. That last 400 or 200 is hwere you wann burn kids out because most will have gone out to hard and be very tired. Ina meet i ran a mile in 5:15, half mile in 2:20, and two mile in 11:26.
