RUN! and do plyometrics, ...and run more.... and do many sprints. sometimes weight training helps too.

I agree. Defiantly run...A LOT! Also do some hurtles just take maybe an empty trash can in your house set it in your yard and run full speed and just over it. Track isn't just about running. It also deals with other things like Frisbee. (Track & Field) Practice your tosses. In track you have your top tournaments that you compete in so see what you shine at best. Good luck.

In order to get better at Track and Field, try improving your finish line time. For example, if you can run a mile in 5 minutes, try speeding up a bit and train to run it in 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
It's all for the training. Start running or if you are a thrower, lift too. Ab workouts also help. Some people do yoga for strength conditioning
One of the things I do when i needed to get in shape for track I ran for about 30 minutes to an hour every day after school.
Eat something before you run a good breakfast frist .then what you eat will help when you run.
Sometimes you just need to pratice to get better.
A short distance is normally started by marking one point in space which you can have as a start
