She was an excellent athlete, winning medals in four different Olympic Games. She was an very good Basketball player in college (UCLA) and scored over 1000 points in her college career. She was voted Top Woman Collegiate Athlete for the last 25 years of the 20th century. She played fair ... in an era when athletes were taking performance enhancing drugs she stayed clean. There has never been any talk about her taking drugs. She is a true role model to those that aspire to be successful in Track and Field and in life in general.

JJK was a phenomenal track and field athlete, who embodied the strength of the human spirit, and in many ways pushed forward a more robust perception of female athleticism. The images of her persevering through painful injuries in pursuit of Gold remain some of the most poignant images from the modern Olympic movement.
