There is no minimum distance between tee and green in golf, but most holes are at least 50 yards from the front tees.

A professional golfer would drive the ball around 270-330 yards off the tee consistently.
The volume of the tee-pee is about 2,618 cubic feet.
The distance is measured from the tee box to the middle of the green. If a hole is said to be 480 yds, that distance is from the tee and "usually" to the centre of the green. Yardage markers ie 150 yrds out are measured the same.

According to the PGATour website the 2008 average driving distance is 287.1 yards. http://www.pgatour.com/r/stats/. So, if the average driving distance is 287.1 and the average roll on a golf ball is 20 yards. Then the average CARRY distance for a tour players drive is 267.1. Due to different wind conditions, sea level, humidity etc distance can be considerably affected. Don't forget this average is for any tee shot NOT on a par three hole. (Sometimes the PGA just chooses 3 or 4 holes on a round and records these). The average driving distance the PGA uses includes Tee-shots with Drivers, Fairway Woods, Hybrids and Irons. There are MANY MANY PGA men who can hit their Driver well over 300yards pretty much whenever they want to
It took me forever to figure this out.. But it's "You Drive Me Crazy" U + Drive (driving range/golf ball on a tee) + Guy pointing at himself + C + Ice + Y You drive me crazy.
