Why are team sports not the best workout for lifelong physical activity?
Outside of school environments, finding and fielding a team is
hard. Getting practice together with 22, 18, 10, 9, or even 6
becomes difficult.
Also it has to do with the meaning of "team sport". When people
refer to "team" sports, they are generally talking about head to
head contact sports. Gymnastics can be a team sport, as can diving
and synchronized swimming. The difference they are subjective as
opposed to objective. That is to say they are scored.
Tennis, badmiton, racquetball, golf, track, swimming ect are
objective and often team sports as well but are not generally
refered to as team sports.
So, the question becomes why are competitve contact team sports
not the best for physical activity.
Because, getting a team together is hard. Because they lead to
injuries, which as we become older, don't heal as well as they once
did. Because, generally, there are not classes (age or weight )
