That's excellent advice from Quirkeyquantummechanic and well said I might add. I'm in Australia and use 2X12 volt batteries to run my 24 volt Motorguide Trolling motor. You can make disconnecting or reconnecting a lot easier when charging your 2x12volt batteries, needed to be run in series to produce 24 volts, by connecting an Anderson plug to suit. Connect the Anderson plug in a handy position into the short lead that goes from the positive post of battery1 - to the negative post of battery 2 - I.E. the lead that enables the batteries to run in series. Then simply add an isolator switch and turn the two batteries off before charging each one singularly with your 12 volt charger. Regards.
