Now there is a company see link below that makes replacement stems for the 690 series toro sprinkler systems. They usually run for $25 each. Once they give that replacement stem a try... I have seen them being used on Golf courses consistently after that. Way better alternative and without a doubt more cost effective.
Actually as of right now, this company is the only distributor of this replacement part (stem)
