Go to the Val Lanes was built in 1957 by the Essy family. What was once a 24 lane Bowling center, Val Lanes added 12 more lanes in 1959 to provide more entertainment in the West Des Moines community. Patrick & Rose Essy purchased Val Lanes in 1990 and changed the name to Val Lanes Recreation Center. A venue to provide entertainment for people of ALL ages and abilities. Changes are always happening at Val Lanes. 2002 remodeling included a new video game room, concourse, carpet, seating and bowling areas. 2005 brought us new state-of-the-art AUTOMATIC SCORING and AUTOMATED BUMPERS on EVERY lane, and in 2004, new ball returns were installed on the approach and in the pinsetters. Always improving and reinvesting in our business to keep you coming back for more!
