Some questions people ask on TT on this web site aren't really worth the time it takes to answer; however, yours is not one of them. I say that not to be boastful, but because I'm a certified coach, have been competing for 35+ years, and a 5-time senior Olympic gold medalist. Now to answer your question: There are three basic kinds of side-spin.......side-spin top, straight side-spin, and side-spin chop or push (stroking under the ball). To return side-spin top, contact the ball near its apex and angle your racket into, and more over the top of the ball, and toward the direction your opponent started their stroke; IE: If their stroke started from their left going right, angle your return to their left. If their stroke started from their right going left, angle your return to their right. Rule-of-thumb.......if your return goes long, you didn't get over the ball enough. If your return goes in the net, you got over the ball too much. Much of the above also applies in returning straight side-spin or side-spin chop/push. Again, angle your return toward the direction their stroke started from. The main adjustment is your racket angle at point of contact with the ball. To return side-spin, contact the ball more near its 9 am or 3 pm point, depending on the direction you need to make your return. Again, using the rule-of-thumb.......if your return goes into the net, you hit over the ball too much.......if it goes long, you didn't hit over it enough. Returning, or imparting side-spin is one of the more difficult skills to master in
TT. But by doing so, it will increase your skill level tremendously. TT is not only a great Olympic sport you can do for a lifetime, studies show it's the best sport for your brain. So hope you'll keep playing and encourage others to do the same. Very good question. Hope my answer will help your game improve.
Yes, SPIN. With spin you can do spin. With bat. And the in another side human will not hit the ball.
Top spin, back spin... There's a few.
