The MD in the product name stands for middle distance. This spike is essentially a beginner spike made for the 800 to 3000. You can use it for the 400 but it may not be aggressive enough. Also, for distances such as the 3000 and 3200 and up, it may be uncomfortable on your feet because of the inadequate padding for such an event. If you are looking for a begginer spike, then this is one of the better ones. But, you can find better spikes for about the same price range. I personally just purchased Brooks the Wire spikes on runningwarehouse.com for $70, and if I recall correctly, the Rival MD's typically run for about $60. Only ten dollars for a really good shoe. It has great traction because of the well thought out spike pattern and amazing sharkskin on the heel. It is also the lightest spike ever made by brooks. The only ones that I have found to match these are the nike zoom victories and the nike zoom matumbos. These two are 100% top of the line and used by many professional runners. They are known as the best distance spike out there on the market right now. The victories should be used for anything over a mile or under a 400. They are best known for being the lightest distance spike ever and their amazing traction. THey are best used for the mile and the 800. The matumbos are a longer distance spike and they are the second lightest spike ever, which is very surprising due to the extra padding needed. This shoe is basically the same upper as the victories with a different spike plate and a more durable sole. They are not as aggressive as the victories, which is not needed anyway for races 3000 and up. The only downfall to theses shoes is their price. Typically, they run for $110. I personally couldn't pay for it so I chose a brand not known for top of the line distance spikes, and ended up completely getting my money's worth. If you have the money, then I would definitely recommend the victories or matumbos. Be aware that track spikes should last for only 1 season. After one season they begin to lose their full potential. I hope this helps you in making a wise decision. The right shoe REALLY helps your performance. If I were you, I wouldn't settle for less than the best. You for sure don't want to compromise your success and performance. Good luck!
Nike track spikes are available at many locations online. A few of the available websites that carry Nike track spikes are fitnesssports.com, Nike.com and eastbay.com.
in one word. no
nike zoom victory and matumbos. nike maxcats yellow and purple ones
Track Spikes help you reach your maximum speed by creating more traction but it isn't a BIG BIG difference. I used my regular nike running shoes at a meet and still won first place even though everyone else was wearing spikes.
There are several options for purchasing track training shoes with spikes. Some of the brands that sell these shoes are Nike, Adidas and ASICS. These shoes have a wide range of prices so one can choose the brand and price that best suits their needs.
yes, especially because of the strap near the toes. It helps running on the toes. I used a pair this season for the first time in high school, I got PRs every time I used it. Very good spiikes
Nike
No, they have to be imported
Nike Matumbo spikes 3 ounces
Try Nike zoom rival sprint 6 running
well it depends on the type of event you want to do. if you are doing sprints then i would recommend using sprinting spikes which are super light weight and have only a very thin heel because you don't need to use your heel. but if you are doing longer running events like the 800, 1600, etc., i would use long distance spikes which are the same as sprinting spikes but with a thicker heel because you would run heel- toe
The best spikes I could think of would be the Japan Lite-Ning 2 by Asics or the Zoom Victory by Nike.
