During the Olympic games all wars and battles stopped. The games helped to form the (national) Greek identity as you could be from one of the various Greek kingdoms and city-states and consider yourself ''Greek''. Also, it was a way to distinguish yourself, other than war or lineage.

because all the nations & countries are united through this competition and it improves courage in every sportsperson. it gives a fair opportunity to those who are very good in particular sport.
