The term "arch" is mostly used to define the area in between a person's heel and toe on his or her foot. The arch is very important when it comes to selecting shoes that will fit comfortably. People with arches should buy shoes that support their arch, otherwise their feet will get sore, because all of their weight is being channeled to their toes and heel, which creates a huge amount of pressure on these parts of the foot. When the arch is supported, it distributes the person's weight equally along the foot, reducing the pressure on any one part.
