It is unknown. Hockey has been claimed to be founded in so many different time periods, that it is impossible to know how old it is.
Arco Arena is capable of hosting Hockey events, but the seating for such events leave so much wasted space and the time to create and maintain the ice would not be feasible for a permanent hockey tenant.
stu the air certainly cooler than regular ice, because ice was contained within the building (an enclosed space) so that the air becomes cooler
That depends on whether you are referring to Ice Hockey or Field Hockey. Soccer originated with the ancient game of Harpastum, played by the Roman Legions, while Ice Hockey was invented in Canada in the 19th Century. Field Hockey, on the other hand is known to have been played in Ancient Greece at the Olympic Games. There is a monument in the museum at Olympia which depicts two players with typical curved field hockey sticks in a face-off position and a ball between them.
The name "hockie" (now Hockey) seems to have been first recorded in Ireland in 1527 and probably comes from the French word "hoquet" meaning "shepherds crook". It's called hockey (Ice or Roller) because it is a variation of Field Hockey (Offical Name Hockey, formally known as Field Hockey). Some also say that in the old days, when hockey was being invented, they had to use the only part of the livestock that they couldn't sell at market, the boney Hock. The Hock is the horse or cow equivelant of our heel. The other more stupid version is that it was going to be called puckie because of the puck. But in one game a hawk flew down and took the puck from the ice because it thought it was a small animal. So they called it "hawk-y" or hockey.
so that the hockey puck can slide once been hit.
No, because ice hockey is a winter sport. So no, but it will be in the 2014 winter olympics.
Shoot Out
I would strongly recommend using hockey pants, elbow pads, and shoulder pads for hockey. Ice hockey puck weighs more than twice the weight of an inline hockey puck and it can do damage if your not protected. Falling down on ice is not so nice either. It depends what your playing; completive ice hockey get all the protection you can, rec-league hockey its not as important. Other than the things above most other equipment is good to use like gloves, shin pads, and helmet.
oh it is so not that popular ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Improved: Although France isn't really a prominent ice hockey country, they do play the sport, and have teams like most countries do. Fédération Francaise de Hockey sur Glace, or FFHG, is the ice hockey federation for France. Check it out here: http://www.hockeyfrance.com - Sorry its in French and I have not yet found a way to translate it to English. So, overall, Ice hockey isn't too popular in France, but it is played there! :)
You don't have to just play on ice,you can play street hockey,Toledo Ohio has a huge street hockey i play in and its real fun. and you can do field hockey,so there are many ways.
💱 so much money
Hockey rink ice has to be kept cold so if you stay around the ice for a long time without the proper clothing you may get sick.
Having good leg strength is very important. If you run fast, you are going to skate fast, so practice running. In hockey, the first few steps are critical to speed, so sprinting exercises are very beneficial.
Ice Hockey is a major part of Canadian history, so most Canadians hold it dear to their hearts. It's not only liked in Canada, but a lot of Canadians are diehard fans because of the history of the sport in Canada.
so its easyer to skate on
There is no difference i have friends that play Inline Hockey and Ice Hockey and they use the same girdles. -- Inline Hockey girdles are supposed to be worn under pants, so often the surrounding nylon is not much robust, and they are tighter to the body.
