1. The first ever Major League Baseball team is the Cincinnati Reds in 1869.
2. Actually founded in 1863 but fully functional in 1869.
3. The Reds were originally know as the Cincinnati Red Stockings. This team somewhat dissolved in 1871 and later became the Boston Red Sox using many of the Cincinnati Reds Players.
4. However, reemerging in 1876. This version lasted until 1880 as they were kicked out of the league for violation of the rules. The rules violations were serving beer to fans at the games. Also they were renting out their stadium which was also another rules violation.
5. Cincinnati Reds of 1882 is the same team of today. They played in what was know as the American Association (AA).
6. Leaving the AA in 1890 Cincinnati Reds would join the National League were they are still playing today. So yes Cincinnati Reds were the first baseball team. Although they were disbanded several times in the late 1800s, they always found a way to reemerge and still be playing today.
