As of October 2023, Peru has won a total of two Olympic medals. The first was a silver medal in the men's 20 km walk, earned by Edwin Vásquez in the 1948 London Olympics. The second was a bronze medal in the same event, achieved by the Peruvian athlete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021) by the athlete Kimberly García.
He was to the first man to win 7 gold medals in a single Olympics.

However, one was the 4 x 100 meters team relay, which he won with 3 other US runners. *The first Olympic medal won by an African American was a bronze medal in the 400 meter hurdles by George Coleman Poage in the 1904 Olympics.
George Poage (USA) became the first black athlete to medal at the Olympics, he won the bronze medal in the 400m hurdles at the 1904 St Louis Olympics and he later went on to win the bronze in the 200m hurdles in the same games.He is the first African-American athlete to compete at the Olympic Games
