Super Bowl XLVIISuper Bowl XLVII (Super Bowl 47, 2013 Super Bowl) kickoff will probably occur a little after 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time. The official Super Bowl site lists 6:30 Eastern as the kickoff timeAfter the AFC game, CBS broadcasters announced that kickoff would occur at 6:29 p.m.6:00 Eastern is usually the time when the broadcasting network (in this case CBS) switches from their pre-game shows to the official broadcast (though technically it's still a pre-game show). In previous years, various sites listed various start times, usually down to the specific minute. For Super Bowl 42, FOX (which was broadcasting the game) announced kickoff for 6:17, the NFL said 6:18, and the site hosting the Super Bowl said 6:30. Actual kickoff was 6:32.So if you'd like to catch some of the pre-game hype, turn on your TVs by 6. During his career as a quarterback Troy Aikman won three Super Bowl rings in the 1992, 1993, and 1995 NFL seasons; in Super Bowls XXVII, XXVII, and XXX respectively. His Super Bowl wins were against the Buffalo Bills twice in '92 & '93 and finally against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1995. As of March 2009, Aikman works as a television commentator for FOX during the Super Bowl. He also provides sports commentary for weekly television broadcasts during the regular NFL football season. Aikman was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 1989 draft. He remained a franchise player from 1989-2000. He announced his retirement on April 9, 2001. He had previously suffered 10 concussions while playing in games during his career which means that he averaged approximately one concussion per year before he stopped playing the quarterback position. Before he retired, his doctors informed him that one more concussion may have been fatal for him had he continued to play.
