The youngest to win Olympic gold was diver marjorie gestring, who, at the age of 13 years and 268 days, won the three meter springboard event at the 1936 Games in Berlin.

In the 1900 Olympics, the Dutch rowing team replaced the coxswain of their coxed pair because they considered him to be too heavy. They replaced him with a young Parisian boy (about 7 to 9 years old) and went on to win the gold medal. However, it is not known which coxswain was given the medal.

History has not recorded that honor as the events concluded on the same day and the clock times of the events were not recorded.

Figure skating was first competed at the 1908 Games in London. The men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and men's special figures events all concluded on October 29. Special figures was a competition where the skater would 'draw' a picture (bell, star, cross, etc.) on the ice with the blades of the skate while skating and then would be judged by the likeness of the figure to the real thing.

The winners were ...

1) Men's Singles - Ulrich Salchow, Sweden

2) Women's Singles - Madge Syers, Great Britain

3) Pairs - Anna Hübler and Heinrich Burger, Germany

4) Men's Special Figures - Nikolai Panin, Russia
