Barry Bonds already beat the record in 2007 and currently has 762 and is not expected to hit any more due to the steroid incidence. In the 1990s, Ken Griffey Jr. was the one who was expected to beat it before he had practically an injury every year after departing from Seattle. Some think that Alex Rodriguez has a chance of breaking it, but he still has about 150 to go. Some think Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, and Prince Fielder have a chance of breaking the record, even though it is too early to assume this.

He was the first black to break Babe Ruth`s Home Run record!
Hank Aaron's first MLB home run came on April 23, 1954 off of St. Louis Cardinals righthander Vic Raschi at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis.
Two reasons: 1) Many people -- myself included -- thought that Babe Ruth's record for home runs in a career would be impossible to break. When the Babe retired, nobody had even HALF that many home runs in a career. To come within even 200 home runs of Ruth's record was considered a super achievement. Yet Hank DID break the record. 2) More significantly, Hank did it despite the extraordinary pressure against him. About 20% of this "fan" mail as he approached the record was overtly racist hate mail, with many letters openly stating that they would kill him before he could break the record.
No. Maury Wills of the Los Angeles Dodgers broke Ty Cobb's single season stolen base record in 1962.
