Walter Treimann Jr., 70, of Towanda RR3, Burlington Township, passed away Wednesday morning, June 5, 2002, at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
Born Nov. 26, 1931, in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the only child of the late Walter and Julie Puumann Treimann Sr.
Walter was a 1949 graduate of Point Pleasant High School in Point Pleasant, N.J., and subsequently attended the Peddie Prep School in New Jersey. He later entered the U.S. Air Force, where she served during the Korean War as an air traffic controller.
On March 1, 1959, Walter married the former Rose Salaba in Trinity Lutheran Church, Islip, Long Island, N.Y. Walter was employed as an air traffic controller at the Philadelphia International Airport for 30 years until his retirement.
Walter attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Towanda and was a member of Towanda American Legion Post 42, Franklindale Fire Company, Monroe Hose Company and the Bradford County Fire Police.
He was a life member of the Whitman Square Volunteer Fire Company in Turnersville, N.J., and was a member of the Special Police for Washington Township, Gloucester County, N.J., for over 20 years.
Walter enjoyed the outdoors and deer hunting in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Interboro Gun Club in Atlantic County, N.J.
Surviving are: his wife of 43 years, Rose Treimann, at home; his children and their spouses: Walter Joseph and Laura Hollway Treimann III of Marlton, N.J., Catherine Treimann Centritto and John Centritto of Turnersville, N.J., Jennifer Treimann Weeks and Robert Weeks of Calgary, Canada, and Kenneth Christopher Treimann and Mitzi Slayton Treimann of Raleigh, N.C.; and three grandsons, John Joseph Walter Centritto, Michael Aaron Centritto and Kyle Paul Treimann.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda. The funeral and committal service will be held Friday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Leonard Shatkus, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Towanda, officiating. Interment services will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the charity or organization of one's choice in Walter Treimann's memory.
