Big Ten men's record held by Calbert Cheaney of Indiana with 2613 points.

Kelly Mazzante of Penn State holds the all-time scoring record (male or female) with 2,919 points. This topic always seems to be popping up. Male vs. female scoring leaders in College Basketball. My feeling is that the records should be separate since the degree of difficulty is much easier for the women hoopsters given the fact that they play with a smaller ball yet the rim size remains the same. I agree that the reason for a smaller ball is that women's hands are usually smaller, but they are still aiming at a larger target. An easy fix would be to install a smaller rim for the women's games to ensure the same degree of difficulty as the men. It would take two maintenance workers 15 minutes to bolt in a smaller rim before the women's games. It just seems to make sense to me. Mazzante was a great player at Penn State but I have doubts that she would have scored 2900 points using a smaller rim. Just my opinion.
