The National Football League definitely has a larger TV audience. For one thing, the NFL is on more stations, and is often carried by the major national networks (like ABC, NBC, or CBS), whereas Wrestling is often seen only on one of the smaller cable networks. Also, since wrestling is not really a sport (it's sports "entertainment"-- that is, a generally scripted performance), it only appeals to a very active core group of fans, while professional football has a much wider appeal. This is not a criticism of pro wrestling, which does require acrobat skills as well as acting skills; but many sports fans do not see it as a sport, and they prefer to watch pro football (as well as Baseball or Basketball).
