Depends on how you define as the "first baseball game." A 1791 ordinance in the town Pittsfield MA prohibited the playing of "baseball" within 80 yards of a town meeting hall, but there is no way of knowing the rules of that game. The first game using the "New York Rules" -- a game which eventually evolved into what is now what we call baseball -- was played in Hoboken NJ in 1845. The story that baseball was invented in Cooperstown NY is complete bunk.
The only rules used at the beginning of baseball were roughly these:there are two teams,an object is thrown towards the "batter",the batter hits it with something, the batter runs to different bases, the team not batting tries to tag the batter with the ball, the batter tries not to get tagged, and to get past all bases before going to "home" base. From there, rules about who was in a team, what could be used to throw and to hit with, how many bases and how far apart they are, how many times you got to try and hit the object, how many times you were allowed to get tagged or out, etc. were all added by later groups at different times.

Abner Doubleday Wrong! Abner Doubleday had nothing to do with baseball. Look it up. The first amateur team of note was founded by Alexander Cartwright, who wrote most of the modern rules. It was 1845 and the team was the New York Knickerbockers.
