It has not been proven they have cheated in any of the super bowls, but the tapes were destroyed, so we don't know for sure. There should at least be an asterisk after each Super Bowl in the record.

I remember watching the games and my dad saying that those old linebackers seemed to know what play is on. We will never know for sure because the NFL and the Patriots tried to cover it up as quick as possible. There are millions of dollars bet on the games, and if people knew they had an upper hand like that, there would be some angry people.

The problem, though, is that the "cheating" involved actions allowed by league bylaws as well as the actual wording of the videotaping rule in question. The "cover-up" was nothing of the kind, as the tapes collected had been leaked from league offices and were destroyed to neutralize any further such unauthorized release.
