The 1940 summer Olympics were originally given to Tokyo but since the WW II was already going on in Asia, the games were moved to Helsinki in 1938. A year later Winter War started when Finland was attacked by Soviet Union. After the three month war Finland was amazingly still independent and was still going to organize the 1940 games.
