Bill Marshall played professional ball between 1931-1940.

In MLB, he played one game for the Boston Red Sox in 1931 and six games for the Cincinnati Reds in 1934.

His minor league career included playing for the Scranton Miners of the New York-Pennsylvania League in 1931 and 1937, Chattanooga Lookouts of the South Atlantic League in 1933, Baton Rouge Red Sticks/Clarksdale Ginners of the East Dixie League in 1934, Decatur Commodores of the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League in 1935, Albany Senators of the Eastern League in 1939, and Clarksdale Red Sox and El Dorado Lions of the Cotton States League in 1940.

Upon retiring he was a scout for the Boston/Milwaukee Braves, San Francisco Giants, and Seattle Pilots.
