George Herman (Babe) Ruth broke into the Major Legues with the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher at age 19, in 1914. He pitched in 4 games with the BoSox that year, starting 3 games and compiled a record of 2-1 with a 3.91 era. In 1915 he was in the Sox starting rotation and had a record of 18-6 as Boston won the American League pennant. The BoSox defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4 games to one in the World Series, however, Ruth did not pitch a single inning in the Series. Ruth did pinch hit in the Series, but was hitless in one at bat.
