In 1918 with the Boston Red Sox, Ruth started splitting his time between pitching and the outfield. He started 19 games as a pitcher that year with a record of 13-7 and played in 59 games as an outfielder and another13 as a first baseman. In 1919, he became a regular outfielder for the BoSox, but still pitched in 17 games, 15 as the starter. Even after being sold to the Yankees, he still pitched occasionally for several more seasons for the Yanks.
