where does the Olympic torch begin its journey?
The first Olympic torch relay was held in 1936 for the Berlin Olympics. The relay started in Olympia, Greece, and ended in Berlin, Germany, where the Games were being held.
The olympic torch represents the theft of fire from Zeus by Prometheus the giant. It also might represent a relay run in the late Ancient Olympics in which a team of runners passed a torch between them and the last runner lit a huge torch. It is a tradition to light the flame at the beginning of all Modern Olympics.
A marathon was 26 miles in Ancient Greece. This is because Philippides was given the task to run from Athens to Sparta to deliver important information. The distance was 26 miles.
In 1956 Australia and Sweden co hosted the Olympics event. Then in 2000 Australia hosted Sydney Olympics solely..........
By Olympics I'm assuming you mean Olympics. If you are then your awnser is that scientific evidence suggests that the Olympics started in ancient Greece as a tribute to their gods. It had most of the events we have now in the Olympics but some of the original events were removed and some new events were added. This is why when the Olympic torch makes it's way around the world it is always lit and starts it's journey in Greece. One of the events was the relay race which was run naked and the baton was on fire at one end. Women were also not allowed to compete in the Olympics because gender equality was not social protocol in those days. There were states or territories in Greece different to the current ones and anyone from outside of the states was also excluded from competing.

They run up the stairs and light it using the torch.
Well, first of all the Olympics are an international sporting event that has been around since 776 BC! The Olympic flame is lit by reflecting the rays of the sun off a parabolic mirror onto a torch a few weeks before each Games. It's been all over the world and really is one of the best things that unites the world as it symbolizes the Olympics and represents peace, unity, friendship, and brotherhood. The torch relay is where people, also known as torchbearers, carry the Olympic flame by torch through the country that is hosting the Olympics. The flame travels from Greece to the host country, then travels around the country ending its journey when the Olympic cauldron is lit during the opening ceremony, and it stays lit until the closing ceremony. hope that helped :) anymore questipon just let me know :)
