Reggie White was a first round draft choice of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1984 but was not the first player chosen in that draft. That distinction went to Irving Fryar who was selected by the New England Patriots. Actually Reggie White was selected in 1984 out of the USFL in the Supplemental draft. Irving Fryar was chosen in the regular draft. White was the 4th pick after Steve Young, Mike Rozier and Gary Zimmerman.
The first year of free agency in the NFL saw one of the best defensive players in history make a surprising move that helped return the Packers to championship form. White left the Eagles and signed a four-year, $17 million contract with the Packers in 1993.

Through the 2008 inductions, the last player that played for the Eagles that made the Hall of Fame was WR Art Monk who played with the Eagles in 1995. Prior to that it was Reggie White who played for the Eagles between 1985-1992 and was inducted in 2006.

Reggie White was drafted twice, once in the USFL and once in the NFL. Reggie White was selected in a territorial draft in 1984 by the Memphis Showboats. The Showboats were coached by Pepper Rodgers. He was also drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in a special supplemental draft which the NFL held in order to prevent bidding wars by NFL teams for USFL and CFL players. Reggie White was chosen 4th by the Eagles, who were then coached by Marion Campbell.
