Thus, it became know by Baseball fans as The Impossible Return. The biggest comeback though a game in the ninth inning only was played on 5/23/1901. Cleveland was losing 13-5 in the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, no one on base. They then scored 9 runs to win the game 14-13.
On April 24, 1901, in their first American League game, the Detroit Tigers scored 10 runs in the ninth inning to beat Milwaukee, 14-13.
